Our story

2007

Early IP creation begins with Gold Fields funding the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) to develop an underground mining robot with SLAM-based vision navigation.

2010

Breakthrough development occurs when computer vision enables 3D navigation without traditional survey points.

2015

Mine Vision Systems (MVS) is founded out of NREC and Carnegie Mellon University with initial funding from Gold Fields to commercialize underground computer vision technology.

2016

Rockwell Venture Capital (RVC) becomes MVS’s lead investor; focus shifts to maturing underground location technology.

2018 - 2021

MVS completes over 50 consulting projects with 24 mining companies, exploring applications like mapping, shaft scanning, convergence monitoring, and autonomous operation.

2021

Strategic collaborations with Hecla and Nevada Gold shape and partially fund the development of FaceCapture.

2023

MVS launches FaceCapture, entering its rapid growth and recurring revenue phase.
